About Us
Ocotillo Services | White Glove Receiving

Ocotillo Services rolled up its door in early 2018 with one guy and a small warehouse space. That guy is the founder and President, Dakota Allen–that’s me. Born and raised in the Southeast United States, I have strong moral and ethical values, which I infuse into every project and business relationship. I believe most business models are developed around offering a service and making a profit, but to me, it has to be about so much more–being a valuable community member.

This rapidly growing business started over 6 years ago is more than your average receiving warehouse. While there are many models for receiving across all areas of commerce, Ocotillo Services was founded to serve the rather specific needs of Interior Designers, Vacation Rental Services, Property Management Companies, and Homeowners in the process of Construction and/or Moving, both in Palm Springs and the Coachella Valley as a whole. Once you engage Ocotillo Services, you will find us attentive to your specific needs, offering solutions, and providing quality receiving, inspection, delivery, and storage, as well as handling the resolution of any issues with items received damaged. Our trained and dedicated team of positive, professional, and hardworking individuals takes pride in everything we do and guarantees our very best service.

Ocotillo Services has multiplied many times to evolve into what and who we are today. In the beginning, the business was founded solely to cater to the needs of Palm Springs Interior Designers. Those needs became apparent while having a casual conversation with friends who were Designers themselves. Their needs seemed so simple yet no one in the entire valley had a business model to serve them adequately. Their experiences with receiving, etc, thus far had been fraught with poor service, high fees, items lost, unclear and unsatisfactory processes, and lackluster communication. Conscientious service should be at the core of any successful business, and that’s when Ocotillo Services came about.

By developing, perfecting and implementing sound organizational systems, being attentive to our clients’ individual needs, being proactive with communication, we are able to provide a better service. And having an overall better business model has allowed us to grow and expand to also serve other areas of need in the area.

During our time of operation, we’ve been able to help customers with all manner of logistics needs. With a vast variety of projects already handled, we’ve learned many tricks of the trade and we are enthusiastically available to assist with your project, whether new or currently underway. With the Coachella Valley being a travel and resort destination, we have customers from coast to coast who use Ocotillo Services for a variety of services and needs. We have also had the pleasure of working with top designers from across the country who participate in the world-renowned architecture and design event in Palm Springs, Modernism Week®. Our services to them included receiving, inspecting, storing and delivering many hundreds of items.

By far the largest and most notable event we help with is the Coachella Music Festival, which brings in over 250,000 people in a two-week period. Festival vendors heavily rely on us to make sure their items, shipped from across the country, are received, delivered and set up to meet extreme deadlines. Each of these vendors has its own unique requests that present real challenges and require a great deal of communication and attention to detail to ensure perfection on the first and only setup attempt.

Our clientele also includes vacation rental and property management companies, individual homeowners and others with logistics needs here in the Coachella Valley. Furniture, rugs, and every other type of household item purchased for a rental refresh cannot necessarily be delivered to a residential address. That’s where Ocotillo Services comes in to complete the project.

In order to provide the most economical and best value, we’ve set our rates to a comparative standard at which our level of quality matches. With that said, we are not the cheapest and we are also not the most expensive service. At the end of the day, you will be more satisfied with our quality of service that will always surpass your expectations.

We pride ourselves on offering an array of core services, most notably Receiving, Quality Control, Climate Controlled Storage, and White Glove Delivery. Each of these services is beneficial to the management of your project. Ocotillo Services differentiates itself from other similar business models by thinking outside of the box and by not trying to be just a moving company.

RECEIVING

Looking at our first core product, let’s discuss what we define as Receiving. Receiving to most is interpreted as signing for a package from the friendly UPS® man and putting it on a shelf, no more, no less. When in actuality, that package is looked over visually and occasionally physically inspected prior to us even signing for it. Once the item is signed for we verify the item from the designer’s project list. Next, it is merchandised in an inventory account solely for each project. Once all of that is done, the item information (i.e. Item number, Color, Vendor, Quantity, and Size) are all verified before the package makes it any further. This detail-oriented process eliminates many of the probable errors that can occur in the ordering and shipping process. We’ve experienced many occasions where an incorrect item was shipped from a vendor’s warehouse. Errors in omission happen and we want to catch them as soon as they arise.

 

Interior Designers

If you’re an interior designer, your goal is to improve the atmosphere and the general quality of life of its occupants. Traditionally interior design is a combination of two things, art and science, these two concepts are combined to create a striking outcome, that is a goal achieved. Our mission at Ocotillo Services is to build a strong, long lasting, and seamless relationship to syndicate with your practice in order to achieve your goals.

If you’re a vacation rental property management company, vacation rental owner, or homeowner, we serve your needs as well. By affording Ocotillo Services the opportunity to aid in your logistical needs, we take a great deal of the stress caused by the shipping, receiving, extensive time processing of freight/damage claims, storage, and the installation process. All of this is usually done behind the scenes with minimal effort on your behalf.
